OUR STORY

Upphafið að varanlegum svínabúskap fjölskyldunnar má rekja aftur til ársins 1935 þegar fyrstu gylturnar voru keyptar.​ Þær voru fjórar að tölu en eru nú 1.500, þegar þriðja kynslóðin er tekin við rekstrinum.

Þessi búskapur var upphaflega í Eskihlíð við Miklatorg (þar sem nú er Konukot) í rúm 25 ár en þá var búið flutt að Lundi í Kópavogi. Síðan liðu 30 ár og enn var búið flutt um set, nú að Vallá á Kjalarnesi.

 

Stjörnugrís rekur einnig svínabú í Saltvík á Kjalarnesi, Melum í Melasveit, Sléttabóli á Skeiðum og að Bjarnastöðum í Grímsnesi. Lengi vel var öll slátrun keypt að en þar kom að, að hagkvæmara reyndist að hafa hana innan fyrirtækisins. Fullkomið sláturhús er nú í Saltvík og nýjasta viðbótin er kjötvinnsla, sem tók til starfa árið 2015. Þetta þýðir að kjötið er eins ferskt og framast má vera, beint í vinnslu og þaðan í dreifingu. 

Beint frá bónda til borðs.​ Óhætt er að segja að neytendur hafi tekið vel á móti framleiðsluvörum frá Stjörnugrís enda vel til vandað, frábært ferskt íslenskt hráefni, fullkomnustu vélar sem völ er á og síðast en ekki síst góðir fagmenn og starfsfólk, sem er einstaklega áhugasamt um að gera vel. Við munum auka vöruúrval og erum sannfærð um að eiga drjúgan þátt í að gera bragðlaukum fólks til hæfis.

Equal Pay Policy and Equality Plan

Stjörnugrís hf. has implemented an equal pay system according to ÍST 85:2012 on the basis of Article 7 of Act No. 150/2020 on equal pay certification, which covers all employees regardless of their place of work, with this equal pay policy as a basis. The purpose of the equal pay system is to ensure equality and equal status of genders within Stjörnugrís hf. with the aim of utilizing the skills, abilities and knowledge of employees to the fullest extent without gender discrimination.

This equality policy and equality plan reminds managers and all employees of the importance of everyone being equal and of valuing the wealth inherent in the education, experience and skills of individuals, regardless of gender.

It is important to follow the principle that everyone enjoys the same opportunities:

  • remuneration is determined in the same way for the same or equally valuable jobs

  • staff have the same opportunities for education/retraining/lifelong learning/courses

  • All genders are welcome to apply for jobs at the company.

  • Efforts are being made to find ways to reconcile family and work life.

  • Violence is not tolerated; this includes, among other things, gender-based/sexual violence/harassment

This equal pay policy and equality plan is an integral part of the Stjörnugríss hf. salary policy and the equal pay system is under constant improvement and monitoring. Factors that affect salary formation include applicable collective agreements, laws and regulations, as well as salary development. Occupation, education, knowledge and experience also matter when it comes to salary formation. If deviations arise, they are addressed.

The equal pay system sets out equal pay goals and these are reviewed and revised according to relevant procedures.

The equal pay policy is presented to all employees and is accessible to the public.

Guiding principles:
We are a desirable workplace where equality and gender equality are respected in all respects and all genders have equal opportunities to utilize their own energy and develop their talents.

Objective:

Our current equal pay targets can be found in the list below. The equal pay targets apply to all operations of Stjörnugríss hf.

The basis of the equal pay targets is that they are measurable and their success is measured and reviewed by management annually. A position is also taken on whether to review the targets, which supports a commitment to continuous improvement.

The CFO may propose revisions and changes to the equal pay targets, and management may make their own proposals for revision.

The CEO is responsible for following up on the targets so that they are achieved. All management commits to supporting the actions needed to achieve the targets.

Eliminate gender pay gap

Equal gender ratios of managers

Equal gender ratios of those taking maternity leave

All genders shall have equal pay and enjoy the same benefits for the same or equally valuable work
